Community Involvement

Showing employees ways to help others is an excellent way to show them that they can also
help themselves, while boosting employee morale within your organization.
Getting involved in the community is one way of teaching employees about helping, growing,
and understanding that every person has an opportunity of making positive change.
For instance, the holidays are a difficult time of year for many people.
Rather than having empathy from afar, why not organize a way for the employees within the
company to help?
Consider organizing a dinner at your business and inviting some needy families in the
community to come and enjoy a festive holiday.
Another idea is to adopt several families and in the months before Christmas conduct
a fund drive to buy gifts and have them all neatly wrapped and ready to give as the holidays approach.
During the summer months, there might be families that need items for the kids to go to school.
One business in Arizona adopted an entire Navajo reservation, giving the kids all new
school supplies as well as clothing and food. Not surprisingly, the faces of these children told the entire story and the employees in the company never felt better.
Every community has hundreds of opportunities. Helping other people allows employees
to work on various projects as a team, all the while building their own self-esteem and morale.
